My name is Mancoba Thwala. I am 14 years old and I’m studying in Form 1 at Yuan Tong High School.

I came from a very poor family in a small rural area located in the Shiselweni region, in a small town called Ndubazi. I am the youngest amongst ten siblings. I have 6 sisters and 3 brothers and  grandparents took care of us. Life was very difficult and sometimes we would go to bed on an empty stomach.

In 2011, I came to live in ACC through the help of a social worker. At ACC, I found life exciting because I had a roof over my head and was provided with education, clothes and three meals a day.
I love kungfu and singing. My hobbies include practicing martial arts, playing soccer and watching movies. When I grow up, I wish to become a doctor, because my parents passed away due to illness when I was very young. As I am seeing many people in Africa dying at a young age due to the lack of medication and poor medical technology, it inspired me to become a doctor when I grow up. I wish to cure their illness and help to save lives. In order to achieve my dream, I have to broaden my knowledge in science and math. I hope to enter a medical university to further my studies and research on the cures for AIDS in the future.
